We can find beauty in the midst of chaos. Although we may search for it like a hidden treasure, it’s there. God often places it in the kindness of others…an encouraging word, a handclasp, a smile, or a thousand other little things.
Bachelor Buttons reflects this kind of beauty. The lighthearted moments temper the gut-clenching moments. Rose and William’s story blossoms like a wildflower in the city streets while common sense and order crumbles around them.
In my upcoming novel, Valley of Shadows, Lorena and Earl must also find beauty after the chaos of tragedy. Their story, as well as Rose and William’s, blends together the light and darkness of their dilemmas. Though they cringe with apprehension at the future, as we do, they gather courage and plunge ahead. They discover that beauty, love, and truth is worth the fight. 
When we are troubled, God is there. His love is steadfast, unwavering. Whatever our situation, He ushers the light of His truth and presence into our circumstances. Bachelor Buttons and Valley of Shadows shows how God works through tribulations for our ultimate good. God’s light dispels the darkness around Earl and Lorena. He renews Rose and William’s strength. Their stories remind me of this scripture: For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. 2 Corinthians 4:16.
Redemption and healing are the greatest treasures of all.
