Sink your toes into the sand, my friends! Do you love going to the beach? Do you enjoy a good beach read? Well, Regina’s books are just the thing! I’m pleased to have contemporary romance author Regina Merrick here! We met at MidSouth Christian Writers Conference this year, and she is such a sweet, fun lady! She is also my sister author at Mantle Rock Publishing, and she is going to share a few fun things about herself.
Regina, we would love to hear about a few of your favorite things. Share away!
Your favorite:
Color – Red. I think it goes back to a favorite shirt I had when I was about 3! LOL! Also, my boyfriend’s car was red. I like to tell him I married him for his car! 😉
Not a thing wrong with that!
Restaurant – Patti’s 1880’s restaurant, which is local to our lakes area of Western Kentucky, and is where many special occasions are celebrated! It’s actually closed now, due to a fire, they’re rebuilding! It’s an institution around here, and known for their 2-inch thick pork chops and mile-high meringue! But the best dessert on the menu? Bill’s Boatsinker Pie. It’s chocolate fudge pie topped with coffee ice cream and whipped cream, then drizzled with chocolate syrup. I know one lady who always orders her dessert first, so she’ll have room for it! After you eat an amazing meal, there are all kinds of little shops to meander through! Christmas is really special – it even made it onto “ABC’s Great American Light Fight!”
That’s so cool! I LOVE going to Patti’s whenever I visit friends at Grand Rivers. I enjoy browsing through their shops and playing their putt putt golf course! It’s beautiful as well as a lot of fun! I’ll be glad when they reopen so I can try that Boaksinker Pie.
Movie – That’s a tough one. I recently saw “Gone with the Wind” at the theater for its 80th anniversary, so I’ll pick that one for now! It. Was. Amazing. I’ve seen it many times, but this was my first time in a theater on the big screen! I couldn’t believe the difference! I haven’t seen “Avengers: Endgame” yet, so I may change my mind after I see it – no spoilers, please!!
I haven’t seen it either, so no worries here! I wanted to see “Gone with the Wind” at the theater, but I missed it! I hope they’ll do it again.
Book – That’s like asking a grandma who her favorite grandchild is! I have many favorites, but two recent favorites are “A Bound Heart” by Laura Frantz and “Justice Delivered” by Patricia Bradley. Very different books, but I have eclectic tastes!
I’ve seen those circulating around Facebook, and they look great. My TBR pile is already hopelessly full, but that’s what a Kindle is good for, right???
Dish – Barbecued Ribs. I used to think I didn’t like them, but then I tried them. I missed out on the perfect food for a very long time!
Oh the things we miss because we don’t try them! I’m a more adventurous eater now than I was when I was younger, and I’ve discovered some great foods like….guacamole! 😂
Vacation Spot – Pawley’s Island, SC. Hmmm . . . somebody needs to set three books and a novella there, don’t they? 😉
And I know the perfect ones! 😉
Hobby – Music. I’m keyboard and organist for our praise band, and love to play and sing. My grandmother played at church for well over 40 years – until I started playing.
That’s really neat! I play the piano, bass guitar, and acoustic guitar. My mom plays at our church while I alternate between the bass and the acoustic guitar. My son is following Mom’s footsteps and learning the piano.
Place to unwind – LOL – usually in front of the television with Netflix or Hulu, but IDEALLY on the beach or on a balcony overlooking the beach! The sound of waves crashing does it for me!
Nothing can beat that wonderful sound!
Song – I’m a musician, so I have different favorite songs for different aspects of life. Honestly, my kids have always rolled their eyes at the way I can call up a song to fit any occasion, turn of phrase, etc. My grandmother was the same. One day it might be “Count Your Blessings,” and the next day it might be “The Sound of Silence” or “Death Was Arrested,” depending on my mood!
I understand what you mean. Some days I may want Gospel, other days classical or big band music, just for starters.
It’s been a pleasure to have you today, Regina! Friends, if you want to connect with her and find out more about her books, check out the links below!

She knows about God’s grace for her life, but pushes it away. He hasn’t experienced it, but finds grace in a way he never expected.
First-year Special Education teacher Charly Livingston demonstrates God’s love on the outside, but is resentful that God allowed back-to-back tragedies to happen to her family.
Rance Beaumont is a top-notch medical intern. He’s on his way to the top, and when he meets Charly, he knows things can only get better. When he discovers family secrets and a dying father he never knew, his easy life seems to disintegrate.
Even in the idyllic ocean breezes and South Carolina sunshine, contentment can quickly turn to bitterness and confusion except for God’s amazing grace.
About Regina
Regina Rudd Merrick began reading romance and thinking of book ideas as early as her teenage years when she attempted a happily-ever-after sequel to “Gone With the Wind.” That love of fiction parlayed into a career as a librarian, and finally to writing full-time. She began attending local writing workshops and continued to hone her craft by writing several short and novel-length fan-fiction pieces published online, where she met other authors with a similar love for story, a Christian worldview, and happily-ever-after. Married for 30+ years and active in their church in Marion, KY, Regina and her husband have two grown daughters who share her love of music, writing, and the arts. She is the author of three books: Carolina Dream (Apr. 2017), Carolina Mercy (July 2018), and Carolina Grace (February 2019) in the Southern Breeze Series.
